Wineries with fireplaces

Bold reds by the fire, all winter long.

When the Cape winter arrives (June-August), the best tasting rooms move indoors and light the fires. The estates on this page all have working fireplaces in their tasting spaces - think stone hearths, oak beams, deep leather chairs and glasses of the estate's biggest reds within arm's reach. Many of these wineries save their most structured Cabernets, Shirazes and Bordeaux blends for the cold-weather flight, often paired with a warm charcuterie board or a small hot dish. Bookings are free - pick a date above to see which fireside tables are still open. Rainy weekends fill up quickly; book a few days ahead if you can.
